Acadia National Park
Please know that we limit the number of reservations each day to allow more opportunities for walk in guests. Many days our reservations could be full, but we always have space for our walk-in guests.
Often referred to as the “Crown Jewel of the North Atlantic Coast,” Acadia National Park is New England’s extraordinary mountain wonderland. With over 4 million visitors each year, the park, with its many attractions and stunningly stoic scenery, is and has been the setting for many unforgettable hikes, bike rides, afternoon picnics, and smiles more than 100 years.
Whether you are out on the trail or taking mountain sunrise pictures, the folks at Jordan Pond House are here to ensure that your trip to Acadia is one to remember, from the awe-striking Thunder Hole, the tranquil Jordan Pond, and the beautiful base of Cadillac Mountain. For all your refreshment and souvenir needs – we will be there!
Please note: We highly recommend making your Acadia day plans, reservations, and parking routes before you arrive at Mt. Desert Island – not only will your day go smoother, but you also won’t have to take away from your experience by battling your fellow visitors for the little cell service available. Unplug, unwind, and enjoy the beauty that is New England’s National Park!
Since 1893, guests to the park have been enjoying delicious tea and fantastically fluffy popovers on the picturesque Jordan Pond House Lawn. Pioneered by Nellie McIntire, the first proprietor of the restaurant, this tradition is certainly one that you don’t want to miss out on. Now serving a wide array of dishes and meals, from fresh lobster to popover ice cream sundaes, this combination of both culinary and scenic delights is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Please note: Dining reservations at Jordan Pond House can be made at maximum a month in advance with our online system – so keep your eye out for the new timeslots that are added every day, you don’t want to miss out!
Towering over the Atlantic Ocean at a staggering 1,530 feet, Cadillac is the tallest mountain on the east coast. Located at the eastern most point of the United States, Cadillac Mountain offers breathtaking views of the red, orange, and pink masterpiece that is the earliest sunrise in the country, between 4:30 and 5:30 am in the summer months. Regardless of the time of day, the view from Cadillac Mountain is unrivaled and essential to the Acadia experience.
Boom! Crash! Is there a storm brewing? No, it’s the spectacular sounds of Thunder Hole! Truly a unique wonder, you need luck and timing to best experience the roar of Thunder Hole, which occurs when waves crash against the rock and water is forced through a crevice and into a small cave.
